AmeriCorps VISTA: Evaluator of Johnson County Educational Initiatives
ATU's AmeriCorps VISTA program will be housed in its Center for Community Engagement and Academic Outreach (CEAO). The goal of the program is to assist CEAO with the development of community partner relationships, while preparing youth in five surrounding counties for college before they even arrive. In particular, VISTAs will be assigned a surrounding county and will assist with the identifying and evaluation of existing programs in k-12 schools in that county that are aimed at encouraging college success. The position will involve travel, collecting of information about identified education programs via interviews and surveys, and conducting and evaluation analysis of the programs identified. The focus of the first year of this program is the development of these relationships with these school and the identification of the programs.
