Arkansas Community Service Awards Nomination

Since 1978, the Governor's Advisory Commission on National Service and Volunteerism, the Office of the Governor, and KARK-TV have recognized individuals and companies that serve others in extraordinary ways. These special Arkansans are honored for their volunteer work with the Community Service Awards, which includes an annual ceremony with the Governor televised by KARK-TV.

Please read the following before submitting your nomination:

  • Nominations for the 2020 Arkansas Community Service Awards are open September 1, 2019 to October 31, 2019.
  • In order to be considered for an award, nominees MUST be unpaid volunteers. The only exception is AmeriCorps service members who receive a living allowance.
  • The Governor's Advisory Commission on National Service and Volunteerism will review nominations and select winners on November 15, 2019. Award winners will be notified in November. 

Award Categories

  • Youth Humanitarian
    • Any youth under the age of 18 or a K-12 student.
  • Young Professional Honoree
    • Young adults and college students ages 18-35.
  • Individual Honoree
    • Any individual 35 or older.
  • National Service Member Honoree
    • A currently serving AmeriCorps Member serving with any stream of service (i.e., VISTA, AmeriCorps Arkansas, SeniorCorps, and National/Direct programs), who has gone above and beyond their regular service duties.
  • Corporate Humanitarian
    • Small and large corporate businesses are eligible. Nominations accepted from corporate employees, individuals, nonprofits, and municipalities.
